It’s December, which means traditional holiday festivities are beginning. From Santa visits to light shows and gift donations there is much to be excited for!

 Looking for some family-friendly events this holiday season? There is a wide variety of festivities right near us! 

 Skate your way into the holidays at 5180 Dale Blvd, Woodbridge, VA 22193 Prince William Ice Center right in Woodbridge, VA! You can take a skating session for $10 per person and $3 for renting skates. PWIC recommends participants wear a helmet, sweatshirt (or jacket), and pants as well as gloves. Public skating sessions are typically held between 1 hour and 20 mins to 2 hours. Monday to Friday PWIC is open from 10am to 11pm while on Saturday’s and Sunday’s they are open from 6am to 11pm. 

 Not into lots of physical activity? No worries, we have plenty more local places full of holiday spirit! On December 9th starting at 7pm you can find Christmas movie trivia at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Woodbridge 15200 Potomac Town Place. There will be 5 rounds of a series of questions focusing on the classic films such as It’s a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, A Christmas Story, Polar Express, Gremlins, Home Alone and a Charlie Brown Christmas. Are you a big fan of The Office? Alamo is also hosting The Office holiday episodes trivia on December 23rd starting at 7pm. 

Our local Lakeridge Plant Nursery has always celebrated the holiday season and this year they are opening a world of family fun activities. The nursery is selling fresh Christmas trees as well as providing family photos with Santa! You can find Santa photos available on the following dates; 12/4, 12/5, 12/11, 12/14. Not only can you buy a new fresh Christmas tree, but the nursery is selling Wreaths, Garlands, home decor and gifts! You can find Lakeridge Plant Nursery on 3705 Old Bridge Rd, Woodbridge. 

Bull Run Festival of Lights is a very popular celebration this time of year. Bull Run is a 2.5-mile drive thru light show with music that corresponds with the lights. There is a walk through a Christmas themed village and carnival. Prices range from $30-$75, you only pay for your vehicle alone. Bull Run will be open until January 2nd. “I really look forward to the lights every year. It’s probably my favorite part of the holidays, the lights are so pretty and get me, my family and friends into the Christmas spirit” says a PWCS highschool student. There are many local businesses and organizations spreading joy and we can all get into the holiday spirit this December!
