Off and Running

The indoor boys’ track season has come to a close, but outdoor track for Spring is right around the corner.

Seniors, Bryan Ly and Cameron Mitchell, made it to states this year and have continued to never give up. These boys always work hard for their teammates and themselves while enjoying their track journeys’. As they get ready for the Spring season, I met with Bryan Ly and Cameron Mitchell, to get more insight on what it’s like to be a track athlete here at Woodbridge.

Ly has learned many lessons throughout his track career, but the most important one for him is how he is able to observe different athletes and their culture. “Track and field may be individual but being a family with your teammates is truly what can make a difference to a championship caliber team” Ly stated. Ly also expressed that “being able to support and educate others on the sport so everyone can reach their full potential are the keys to success within each program”. Some advice he leaves with his teammates is “if you’re really looking to be great in anything you need to be consistent, commit, and be willing to take every challenge head on.”

Mitchell has also worked hard to be where he is now. He stated “My biggest highlight this season is becoming a four-time district champion and one-time region champion.” “I’ve worked hard to get these results and seeing it fall into place is beautiful”, Mitchell added. One of the biggest things Mitchell has learned throughout his track journey is learning how to have patience. Mitchell states “Nothing comes overnight so you must stay consistent and wait for your time”. One thing he wants his teammates to know is that “You will never enjoy your accomplishments if you don’t enjoy the journey it took to get there”.

Both Seniors look forward to the achievements they will make throughout their Spring season but as it is their last go around, the ending will be bittersweet. We all can’t wait to see what these boys accomplish throughout their last track season here at Woodbridge.
