Here Comes Summer

Here Comes Summer

The end of the school year is near! That means summer is right around the corner. Get prepared for this season’s weather. June 21st, 2022 is the official start of summer!

Weather-

It is predicted that this summer we are going to start off with hot weather and minor thunderstorms across most of the states.

During the rest of the summer, we are predicted to have hotter than average temperatures, minus the northeast which is expected to be cooler than normal. On average July is the hottest month in Virginia, with an average high temperature of 88.

It is expected that there is less precipitation than normal. Lower rainfall might lead to droughts across the country.

Plants-

There will be many crops that will be harvestable during the summer seasons, like peas, lettuce, and sweet corn! There is nothing to plant during this season, but a lot are harvestable

Lavender, Sunflowers, and Hydrangeas will be blooming during the summer, this is a great time to pick up flowers from the local nursery and plant them.

Activities-

There are a lot of local activities to do during the summer. The pools are starting to open, and jobs are beginning to become available. The local marina will be open to renting canoes and hiking.

This summer will be a hot one! Our last day is June 15th! Enjoy your summer WSHS students and staff!
