In just a few weeks Woodbridge Senior High School will be hosting Prom at River View at Jean R. Packard Center in Occoquan Regional Park. Tickets have just gone up to purchase, but that isn’t the only thing that’s taking a toll on everyone’s wallet.

While the tickets are already quite expensive, there is the dress and tuxedo shopping that is required.  With the additional costs off a corsage/ boutonniere, shoes, makeup, and hair styling that needs to be done, it can add up to be a pricy total. Although, the boys had an idea on how to tackle this stressful event. Senior Kiet Tran says it was an easy experience for him. “I had a clear idea of what I wanted to wear as well as how I was going to purchase it.” Unfortunately for the girls it took a little more effort. Senior Mikayla Monroy says, “I had no idea what I wanted going into it”. Even though it might’ve taken some time, Mikayla adds that she felt great regardless because the dress was on sale! It can add up to be a lot, but as people prepare, they find things that assist them during this event.

Once the day comes, the cost goes out the door and a rush of emotions come in. As much of an exciting day we prepare for it to be, there is also a moment of realization for seniors that it’s their last time for a high school event with their friends.  Senior Christian Cordova is having a bittersweet feeling about Prom. Even though it’s his last big event with his friends, he is also excited to have a great night. “ I am going to make the most of the night, enjoying every minute.” he says.  Marian Claros Barrientos says this is her first Prom, so she’s doing all she can to push away the sadness and is getting excited to go! “I know I will have more opportunities to have fun” she says optimistically.

Even with all of the hectic prices and emotions going through the air, its safe to say everyone is excited for Prom! There are only a few tickets left, so don’t wait up! It will be a night to remember.
