Returning Fashion Trends

As the year 2022 progresses, old trends are making a comeback and getting modernized to fit the present world.

From head to toe, “pearlcore” has returned, appearing all over the runaway. This trend can be traced all the way back to the 16th century. Despite the amount of time, pearlcore has not died down but has instead reemerged with a new boldness as designers create pearly chiffon, silk, cashmere, wool, and even nail accents.

As of the past year, Athleta hoodies and joggers have started to get replaced by knitted and crocheted textures. During the pandemic, knitwear became the top-ranked shopping fabric and an alternative to traditional jogging suits. For a street style look, it is paired with boots and coordinating belts, and for a glammed-up style, heels, a long blazer, and jewels have been the way to go.

Prepwear has been trending since 2021 and stylist Lauren Rae Levy, says, “cable knits and dorky prints are all the rage” as she gave a shout-out to musician Harry Styles, and his vest-heavy wardrobe. Ways to rock this look include cashmere, printed neutral shades, and white or ivory color button-down shirts. If the vest is oversized then pair it with straight or wide-legged pants, mini skirts, leather pants, or a pleated skirt.

This next trend can be seen as a reincarnation of an old DIY trend. Dopamine dressing originated from the tie-dye trend of the 2021 spring and summer, painting the pathway for dopamine dressing. This is a joyful and colorful trend that boosts moods and is named after the “happy hormones” released by the brain. Dopamine dressing does not just include colors, but textures, patterns, and comfort as well.

Happy hormones go all around when it comes to these fun and stylish fashion trends. People across the nation get to embrace different looks, palettes, and ideas, creating comfortable and bright options. Spring 2022 is the time for confidence and individuality.
