A deep dive into “Anti-Hero” By Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift released the new hit album Midnights in October with the hit single “Anti-Hero”. Along with many good albums in October check out this article. It has been number one on the billboard for three weeks straight! This is her longer number one on the billboard in her whole career. This song shows while she is a hero to many she still feels like the Anti-Hero.
“Anti-Hero” addresses her insecurities. A line in the song goes “I will stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror” this is her opening about her body dysphoria. Body dysphoria is just seeing her “flaws” that most people cannot see, and you are the only person that can see the “flaws” She will do anything but look at herself and see those “flaws”
In another line, she sings “I’m a monster on the hill” about her being insecure about her weight. She feels like she is bigger than everybody. She is 5’11, and she has dated guys that are shorter than her and a lot of people would point that out. Throughout her career, if she gained even a little weight, people would call her names and shame her. They would even speculate that she is pregnant.
“I am the problem, it is me” is Taylor coming to terms with the fact that all her problems are coming from her mind. She also blames herself and self-sabotages a lot. She is blaming herself for all the terrible things that happened to her. She is looking back to the things that failed in her life and the people who did her wrong.
A lot of people relate to this song! It will be cool to see how long Taylor can hold number one on the billboard while everybody is going crazy to get her tour tickets.
