Thanksgiving Foods

Thanksgiving is here! There are a lot of traditional foods from different countries that people have on Thanksgiving.

English Teacher, Crista Colantoni eats stuffed olives from Italy on Thanksgiving. Typically, these olives are filled with pork, beef, chicken, veggies, garlic, and cheese.

Senior Jill Crunkilton eats Fisherman’s Soup (Halászlé) from Hungary. It was originally from the Szeged region, and the rich soup would be prepared over open fires along the riverbanks. Nowadays a lot of people cook it indoors. The stew is typically made of carp, pike, and bass.

Senior Haset Daniel eats Doro Wat which is from Ethiopia. It is a spicy chicken sew with Berbere as the main spice.

Junior Rayesha Alam eats Biryani from Bangladesh. The first layer of this dish is rice. The second layer is marinated chicken that is pre-cooked. Next, you relayer it with rice. Then on top there is fried onion, some aromatic water, saffron, and milk and cooked on a low flame.

Senior Jessie Flanigan eats Tamales from Mexico on Thanksgiving. It is made of a corn-based dough mixture filled with various types of meat and cheeses.

There are many different types of Thanksgiving foods that people eat. It is amazing to see different cultures portrayed in these meals. I hope everybody that celebrates has a Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy your day off!
