The Meaning Behind “Gold Rush” By Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift released Gold Rush in 2010 on her album titled Evermore. It won a Grammy Award for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical.

A lot of fans think she wrote the song about Harry Styles. One of the lines is, “I see me padding across your wooden floors / With my Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door.” Back in 2014, the Philadelphia Eagles posted a photo to Twitter of Harry Styles holding an Eagles shirt. Another line that provides evidence to this fact, “I don’t like that everybody would die to feel your touch.” Harry Styles fans are very passionate about him and some tend to dream what it would be like to be with him. She continues this with the line, “Everybody wonders what it would be like to feel your touch.” Taylor Swift uses gold as a symbol because of how Harry Styles is viewed by the public. Harry Styles represents gold because of his musical talent, status, and looks. The overall theme of the song is about a guy that glows in a relationship but something feels off. A person that is just not right for you but “it’s so inviting I almost jump in.”

Gold Rush is a fan favorite and has a lot of deep lyrics which makes it such a meaningful song.
