Girls Volleyball Brings Passion and Drive to a New Season

Girls Volleyball Brings Passion and Drive to a New Season

Allison Curley, Editor-in-Chief

Girls Volleyball is back on the court and ready to strike. The coaches and players have a lot to say about the fall season.

New Head Coach Richard Habina wants to bring stability to a team who faced inconsistencies in previous seasons. “I don’t want to just build a team. I want to build a program.” Habina originally started coaching at the Chinn Center with elementary school kids. As the years went by, he instructed older kids, and his love of the game grew. Habina then brought his love of the sport to Woodbridge. “From top to bottom, we have people that want to be here, they want to do well, and they want to learn.”

Coach Habina is not the only one excited for the season. One of the Varsity Team Captains, Isabelle Eaton, predicts a rewarding season for the team. She remarks that the team has great chemistry and passion for the game. “We love the game, for a lot of us volleyball is our entire life. This drives us to be better.” Eaton also explains how the mental and physical side of the game can get stressful. She says that she and Kylie Barbier have done an incredible job taking charge. “The most important thing I take away from a win or loss is the experience. I always leave with the mentality of “what can I do better?””

Girls Volleyball has had recent matches against Colgan, Hylton, and Potomac. They have a current win ratio of 6-6. They also have upcoming matches against Garfield, Freedom, and Flint Hill.

It looks like a strong start to the season for our Girls Volleyball team. These athletes are a great representation of our school and its values. Check out the October schedule on the Woodbridge Athletics Website. Everyone should come out and support as this team puts all their dedication into a new year.
