New music is around the corner for 2023! Look at these new releases from this January.

Released January 20th, Mac DeMarco’s new album titled “Five Easy Hot Dogs” is his 5th full studio album compromised of 14 tracks. These songs were recorded on a road trip from Los Angeles to New York and each song is a different city name. Most of these are instrumental tunes with guitar sounds and sonic rhythms. “Five Easy Hot Dogs” is unlike any other project then Mac has done before, with the focus on the sound and less on the lyrics. This allows for each song to represent how he feels about the place he’s in. When listening you can feel nostalgia and comfort in the tone. Mac DeMarco is taking his signature sound and putting it in a new context, which provides a beautiful masterpiece for people to listen to.

Måneskin also experiments with a new sound on their album “RUSH!” that came out January 20th. It has 17 tracks with themes of love and loss. This hard rock album is their 4th studio album, and the most popular song is called “SUPERMODEL.” This song talks about celebrity status and fame, and how much people obsess over it. In the broader sense, the album shows what party life is like, dealing with drugs, and the lifestyle of rockstars. Overall, Måneskin does a great job of conveying these themes with their interesting rhythms. This is definitely worth a listen if you like heavy rock music.

Singer of popular song “Sweet but Psycho” Ava Max came out with her sophomore album titled “Diamonds and Dancefloors” With 14 tracks, she describes this project as “Heartbreak on the dancefloor.” She says that it is her most vulnerable album yet, and details events in 2021 which was supposedly “the hardest year” of her life. “Maybe You’re The Problem” is the leading single which touches on a breakup with a short-tempered, selfish partner. It is a dance and synth pop song that has deep meaning behind it. It is the early days for this release, so we’ll have to see what else this album leads to.
