The softball team is doing everything they can to make their way to states, while making sure they balance the hardships of this challenging sport.

With multiple returners this year and the leadership of 2x Captain Kylie Barbier and Captain Grace Clary, the girls are doing all they can to get what they deserve. Grace Clary and Junior Jericho Tate are the “duo not to be messed with” says Coach Belk. They bring a different spice to the team that the rest of the girls know how to work with.

Coach Belk says, “the girls have created a phenomenal environment for themselves this season”. Kylie Barbier says that they are huge on team bonding. They’re a family and although family feuds can be common, its nothing the girls won’t work through by going to get food after games with each other, to ensure they are making the best of their season.

It can be challenging for the girls to get their head in the game. Kylie Barbier says “Between striking out, missing a ground ball, dropping a ball, or even pitching a ball” it takes one mistake to mess up the whole game. Its hard for the girls as it can take a huge toll on their mental health.

By the time softball starts it’s the end of the school year and the girls start to feel tired with everything they try to juggle. Through the hardships, they always know how to make the best of it.  “We try to make the practices fun and for game days, we blast music and dance around.” “It definitely isn’t easy, but it moves smoother when you’ve been doing this for a while.” says Barbier.

With their hard work and dedication, we can tell the girls are staying focused and staying determined to get to states!
