This year’s winter sport gymnastics team is springing to the start! The team has about 23 girls on the team for the 23-24 season, with a couple of amazing captains! Gianna Ortiz-Martinez, is one of the best in the group of captains on the team as she strides through this year for her last year at Woodbridge.
Angelique Mattox, a tenth grader at Wshs. Angelique said that she has enjoyed gymnastics ever since she started at the age of five! She has amazing skills for only being a sophomore and is incredibly talented. The last captain of this year’s team. Is grace Contreras, an amazing gymnast in the tenth grade as well she’s got great skills only at a young age.
The 23-24 team have made a great bond in only a month! They treat each other like family, they support each other and always will be there. Even if you’re not competing at a meet they still cheer on the people in the competition! Practicing together is so much fun and they always have a good time.
Many girls competed at our first meet on December 5th and were very excited. Some are doing just one event or more. But many are competing all round, which is exciting for everyone! The meet took place at Mount Vernon high school, they competed against Falls church, Edison, and Lewis.
The first meet of the season, at mount Vernon high school. Woodbridge placed 2nd overall in the competition! With Angelique in 1st place all round, 2nd place on beam and floor and 4th on bars!
