The girls on the cross-country team have a young and new group of athletes on the team this year with few upperclassmen returners.

The coaches are thrilled for this upcoming season. “We are really excited to see how many athletes can advance to regionals.” says coach McGreal. Coach McCarthy says that nearly the entire girls team got their personal best times at the Oatlands meet with over 100 teams. The girls JV placed 10th out of 45!

The team dynamics are better than ever this season. “The returners are showing the young and new runners the ropes,” says coach McCarthy. He says the returners are the glue of the team. Senior Jill Crunkilton is a perfect example of this as she hasn’t allowed anything that can divide the team. “Being a returner, the part I look forward to the most is getting to mentor underclassmen.”, she says.

“I am excited for Regionals; it would be a nice experience with the team.” Freshman Liana Eberly has a personal best of 20:49 on the Oatlands course. Coach McCarthy says she has a tireless work ethic and stark competitiveness. It’s clear to see the athlete’s passion for the sport.

The season is starting off strong with the girl’s hard work and dedication. The coaches have great things to say about their athletes and we are hoping the best for  them this season!
